Welcome 2010 lunch with buddies at Tatsuya

Went to Tatsuya for lunch with my two buddies, AL and AK, to welcome the first work week of the new year.  We were served the new year omakase menu.  We were a  bit disappointed that there was no fresh supplies today as the Japanese market was still closed.  Atmosphere was a bit quiet.  Maybe their frequent customers are still holidaying or on leave.  But it was easily 80% full.

The new year omakase was different from their normal omakase offering but it was as good and delicious.

Took a few photos of the New Year dishes.  I am not familiar with these dishes and did not ask Goh san what they were.  But I made a "guesstimate" below.  Hopefully I am not far off.

Black soya beans in sweet sauce;
white and pink kamaboko (pureed white fish)

Takenoko (bamboo shoot), freshly cut tuna cubes
and a huge boiled tiger prawn

Grilled yellow tail

Tatsuya fantastic nigiri sushi

A piece of mochi (rice cake), 2 slices of bacon,
renkon and komatsuna in clear soup.
